What a weekend! Zach made his NASCAR ARCA debut out west at the Desert Diamond Casino West Valley 100 at Phoenix Raceway in the #01 Rebuy/Quick Quack Toyota Camry. Zach spent Wednesday and Thursday morning visiting local Quick Quack Car Washes, meeting fans and raising money for Phoenix Pride, something he is hoping to expand upon next year as well. Zach said "It's really important for me to be able to give back to the communities we are visiting during race weekends. I know there's people in these communities that need the support and I hope to bring awareness and much needed monetary support as well."
Thursday night meant Practice and Qualifying, Zach's first in an ARCA car. He completed 52 laps in total and finished the qualifying session in 25th out of 32 entries. When asked about his results from the session, Zach said "Our qualifying session was solely spent on gaining experience and running as many laps as possible".
On Friday, Zach woke up bright and early to meet with NASCAR representatives and Phoenix 12News for a sunrise interview on NASCAR's brand new Oasis in the Sky! For the first time in the United States, Dinner in the Sky gave guests the opportunity to rise 150 feet above the track in a hanging dining table!
Raceday means it's time for business and Zach was ready. Knowing it was his first race, he wasn't focussed on winning, Zach said "Going in to the race we set two monumental goals, finishing in the top 20 and keeping a clean race car. Once I took the green flag I was able to do what I do best and race the field." Race he did! Zach was able to remain on the lead lap for the entirety of the 107 lap race, working his way up to 14th place before a double shoot-out finish landed him with a P18 finish.
Asked about his finish and thoughts on his debut race, Zach said "It was truly a team effort and I’ll forever remember this moment and everyone that played a part in it, big and small. I was able to truly lean on the people who believe in me when I needed it most. Our on track efforts wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our awesome partners at RebuyEngine and QuickQuackCarWash."
That's a wrap for Phoenix and the 2022 season! Zach is spending time looking for partners to expand his season next year and hopes to be able to throw in a Truck series start!
